About Oaktree International
Our Story
Founded in 2017, Oaktree International Institute of Education (OIIE) began as a family initiative with one student preparing early for the SEA exam, and passing with flying colours. Since then, we have helped dozens of students succeed in SEA, CSEC English A and B, and other key academic milestones. Many of our students achieve top marks in creative writing, comprehension and language arts.
At the heart of OIIE is Sharon R. Wilson-Strann, an educator with over 30 years’ experience in primary, secondary and tertiary education. A published author and teacher trainer, she has developed and facilitated widely respected programmes for students, parents and teachers. Her textbooks and workshops are used in classrooms across Trinidad and Tobago.
Today, OIIE offers student-centred SEA preparation, educational workshops and custom resources. We are proud to publish locally developed books and are expanding into full-time online schooling, animated video lessons and a growing digital library, all designed to make learning engaging, practical and effective.
Whether you are looking for trusted lessons, quality materials or a full academic experience from home, OIIE is here to grow with you.

The Education Director
Sharon R. Wilson-Strann has been an educator since 1991. Over the past three decades, she has served in various roles within the education sector, beginning as a classroom teacher, then moving into teacher mentorship and leading professional development sessions. She has taught at every level of the education system: primary, secondary and tertiary. Her tertiary-level experience includes a two-year appointment as tutor for the summer-semester course Reading and Writing Across the Curriculum at the Department of Teacher Education, Antigua State College, under the auspices of the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.
Currently, Mrs. Wilson-Strann serves as an edupreneur and the Education Director of Oaktree International Institute of Education. She also holds a Bachelor of Education in Language Education (First Class Honours) from the University of the West Indies and a Master of Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Edinburgh.
Mrs. Wilson-Strann is the author of several widely used textbooks for primary and secondary school students, including: Mastering Literary Texts (Poems and Stories) for S.E.A., Crafting Stories, Poetry Analysis for S.E.A., and Mastering Poetry for the CSEC English B Examination—formerly published by Macmillan Education (2007–2017) under the title Poetry for the CSEC English B Examination.
Since July 2019, she has conducted over 30 ELA Parent and Child Workshops, where both parent and child participate together. These sessions are designed to equip parents with practical strategies for supporting their children in comprehension and creative writing, while giving them firsthand experience of the learning process. In October 2020, she launched a series of ELA Writing, Reading, and Comprehension Teacher Workshops, which have since reached over 50 cohorts, including principals, vice principals, literacy leaders and classroom teachers. These workshops have received consistently positive feedback.
She has also facilitated numerous student workshops in reading comprehension, narrative writing and report writing. Additionally, she is the designer and facilitator of Writing Excellence for Primary Educators, a professional development programme that strengthens teachers’ writing skills and equips them to teach writing more effectively in the primary classroom. The programme has been praised by participants for its relevance, structure and practical classroom application.
